TITLE expresses the relationship between auteur cinema and Buddhist philosophy through images and narrative. movie illustrates how the superficial image we see is different from its true substance. To this end, TITLE builds its theme through a series of intentional contrasts and contradictions. main character, Chuk Nam-yong, follows the Buddhist idea that everything comes in circles, but he does the exact opposite in his real life. the unchurched Chuk Nam-yong's home, a Buddhist painting hangs. It's Shim-woo-do, a depiction of a shepherd looking for cows. It illustrates a process of a man's enlightenment to recover his true nature. Nam-yong's life is a constant struggle to compete with others and perfect his movie. In this process, he goes through the ten stages depicted in the Buddhist painting, which becomes an allegory of an ignorant man becoming an enlightened Bodhisattva. this movie, the characters of an assistant director and a female lead in Chuk Nam-yong's movie are played by one actress. This also plays in part as as a Buddhist worldview that all things and phenomena we see come into existence when different relationships build harmony. They change and disappear when conditions change. such, all the relationships in our society are illusory and do not really exist. TITLE captures the life of Chuk Nam-yong, a cinema person who can never escape from the illusion of 'film' and 'cinema.'
