Synopsis : A deep dive into the heart of a family tragedy inspired by real events. The dilemma of a young boy forced to kill his parents to save his siblings faced with the machinations of a father under the influence of esoteric ideologies.
Mario Janelle is a director and cinematographer whose career spans over three decades in the film and television industry. Known for his creative vision and his technical precision, he has contributed to a wide range of productions, including feature films, documentaries, television series, and live performance films. He began his career working in various roles, including camera assistant and first assistant director, before establishing himself as a trusted director of photography. His work includes cinematography on award winning productions such as Surviving Progress (2011), and Winnie (2012). In addition to his work in fiction, Mario Janelle is well known for his long-standing work filming live performances with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Cirque du Soleil and many more. He directed several filmed performances, including Kooza (2008) and Chakkapesh (2018), capturing the magic and intensity of live shows for global audiences. These projects showcased his ability to blend theatrical spectacle with cinematic technique, bringing stage productions to life with emotional depth and visual sophistication. His transition to directing and producing marked a significant shift in his artistic journey. His first short film, Of An Equinox Evening, stands as a personal and powerful debut. Rooted in a real-life event that deeply affected him, the film explores themes of belief systems, sectarian aberration, and personal liberation. Through this project, Mario expresses a desire to revisit the aesthetics of cinéma direct while challenging traditional narratives.
