Filmography: From 2022 to 2024, Gian Arre served as the communications head at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, a German political foundation in the Philippines fighting for human rights and democracy. He wrote, directed, shot, and edited the short films: PANATA (best film, people's choice winner for Freedom Mov_E 2018, and screened at Cabriolet in Beirut, Lebanon), KATIPUNAN (Jury Prize winner at Cinemobile "Buhay Byahero" 2019 and Gawad Alternatibo:Crosscurrents 2020 finalist), DISTANCES (Finalist at Gawad Sining Short Film Festival 2020 and narrative finalist at Kansai Queer Film Festival 2021), TERROR ERROR (2nd place Narrative Category at TVUP Pag-aalay webXhibition & Festival Awards 2021 and Honorable Mention at I AM NOT VOICELESS film competition), CLASS IS IN SESSION (1st place at Rotary PSA Festival 2020 and Finalist in the Narrative Category at TVUP Pag-aalay webXhibition & Festival Awards 2021), iTAY (finalist at Cinemalaya x Nespresso 2018), PAGHINTAY (1st runner-up for best film at Cinemandirigma 2019), ANNE'S TALKSHOW (Best work for/on/by children at Gawad Alternatibo 2020 & Sorok Short Film Festival 2019 Finalist), MCLAINE (finalist for Istorya ng Pag-asa 2018), How To Traffic Humans (finalist for Active Vista 2017 and screened at Fringe MNL 2018), PAANO MAGING BABAE (Best Short Film at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2020), ANG BAGONG LARUAN NI BRIAN (finalist at Subangan Film Festival 2017), MARAHIL KULANG (Exhibited Out-of-competition at Viddsee Juree 2017), CALLBACK (Pelikultura 2021 Film Workshop Grantee), PAGITAN (finalist at 3 Shots Film Festival 2022), PANSIT PAMASKO (People's choice winner at Power Mac Unwrapped Moments Film Festival 2022), GROOT CHAT (3rd Place at Mga Kwentong Klima 2022), and PAPAPA (Best screenplay for Sine Siklab 2020, finalist for Cinemapua 2020 & Gawad Alternatibo 2020). He was also a delegate of Jun Lana's CINEPANULAT screenwriting workshop, a member of Richard Bolisay's CINE CRITICO, and among the 24th Batch of Ricky Lee's screenwriting workshop. Additionally, he was a delegate of film labs like FDCP's Full Circle Lab 2022, Sikap's animation pitch lab from 2021-2022, and Cinemalaya's development lab for both the 2023 and 2024 semi-finalists. His first feature, TETHER, became a finalist at the Cinemalaya 19 Independent Film Festival and won Best Actor & Best Sound Design. It has since won and been selected for several festivals in Europe and Asia in 2024. His second feature, IN THE TRENCHES OF THE PINK REVOLUTION, is a full-length documentary that premiered at Freedom Mov_E 2023 in Naga City.
