Synopsis : Brain Garden – Next to Normal is an experimental music video that stares into the eyes of Diana, a mother drowning in silent depression. After losing her young son, she escapes into a hallucinated garden where he still runs and laughs. Her eyes reveal everything: glazed with exhaustion, wide with terror, or slowly dimming as she longs to disappear. The music pulses between fragile lullabies and distorted screams, mirroring her fractured mind. Abstract visuals blur the line between comfort and cage. This piece challenges us to Open Your Eyes to maternal depression, one of the most invisible crises today. We praise mothers for being strong while their eyes beg for help. To open your eyes is to stop looking away when a mother whispers “I’m fine.” It is to recognize that depression, grief, and bipolar disorder are not weaknesses but wounds. Through experimental sound and raw, eye driven imagery, the video forces us to witness what is usually hidden. Let us see the mothers behind the mask before the garden swallows them whole.
