Ren X. Zheng is an aspiring writer/director based in L.A. Ren’s film works carry a mystical tone and surrealism theme with enthralling visuals related to film semiotics. Ren wrote and directed Escargot (11 mins), won Best Indie Short at IndieX Film Fest and Best Student Film, Grand Jury Awards at New York International Film Awards in 2021, also screened at Producer’s Club in NYC. Her following work, Exquisite Cadaver (15min, 2022), portrays a psychic automatism about creating a bizarre and intuitive drawing. Her upcoming project, The Death of Jade, a young boy’s corpse found by the sea without organs in it, in pre-production. Ren is currently working as an editor and colorist, pursuing an MFA degree at the USC School of Cinematic Art.
